Fall in Northern Michigan

A couple of weekends ago, my mom and I spent a long weekend in northern Michigan visiting dear friends. This fall has been a little disappointing in the Midwest because it's been very warm, so the leaves haven't really started to change and we've still been wearing our summer clothes until just a week or so ago. So, when we went up to Michigan and saw all of the beautiful fall foliage and got to actually wear our fall clothes, we were ecstatic! We decided to do all the fall things over the weekend and proceeded to dive face first into apples, pumpkins and cider.

We started by visiting Apple Fest in Charlevoix, MI. It takes place right on Main Street overlooking the marina. There are tons of vendor booths and apples galore (obviously). We ate our way down the street, perusing the goods and eating cider donuts, meat pies and crepes.

On the way back, we stopped at King Orchards in Central Lake, MI. You can pick your own apples and pumpkins there. I stocked up on Honeycrisp apples, cider and more donuts. They also make great baked goods and other goodies. In the summer, you can get your fill of Michigan cherries there as well!

We rounded out the weekend by carving pumpkins, looking at the beautiful scenery, eating homemade soup and just having a great time! I'm so glad we got to make a trip to see our friends and experience fall in northern Michigan. Where is your favorite place to experience fall?
