I don't know about the weather where you are, but it's been ridiculously cold here lately. For me, that means that your cold weather accessories may stay on after you go inside. Since I got this leopard coat (been wanting one since we created our Favorite Fall Trends list), I've been all about dressing in black, or neutrals and letting the coat shine as a statement piece.
This saucy faux leopard coat makes me feel one part Jackie O, one part Edie Sedgwick and one part Peg Bundy. I'm cool with that combo, though. When I was five years old, I was asked what my favorite TV show was and I answered "Married With Children." That's when my parents decided I needed a solid bedtime. But the leopard had already infiltrated, sorry, Mom!
A black mockneck skater dress and and over-the-knee boots were a perfect sleek base outfit that has character, but doesn't compete with the leopard coat at all.
To top off the ensemble (literally!), I wore a velour turban I picked up from Donna's Dress Shop. It's a perfectly retro piece that really makes a statement, and is also very functional in that it keeps your noggin nice and toasty without the bulk of a fuzzy winter hat.
A long silver necklace and black vintage clutch help keep the outfit low-key while adding in a super throwback vibe. A maroon lip to match my turban was obviously in order.
What are your favorite ways to style coats and accessories in frigid temps?
