One of the best things about summer and the warmer months is being able to go out and enjoy the farmers markets around the area. We have several around Central Illinois, but I recently went to the Old Capitol Farmers Market in Springfield.
It was pretty hot out when we went, so I went with something light and airy. I absolutely love this pineapple skirt from Ann Taylor. It's a vibrant color and it has pineapples (and we all know I love a good pineapple print). I don't know why, but I really felt like I was channeling Jane from Tarzan in this get-up. Maybe it was the mixture of the yellow tropical skirt and the safari-esque hat, but I was thisclose to booking a jungle excursion.
This straw bag is super roomy and was perfect for carrying around the fresh flowers and baked goods I bought at the market. This pom pom charm is something I've been trying to add to every summer tote I have this year.
And of course, it's not a proper farmers market outfit unless you add a ridiculously big straw hat! Don't worry, I traded out my wedges for flat sandals to walk around the market. ;)
Now, follow me as we make our way to the market!
The market itself takes up two blocks by the old state capitol in downtown Springfield. There are a ton of different booths, all selling different types of wares.
You will find every type of produce, baked good, flowers, plants herbs and even a few knick knacks! I grabbed a few goodies from the booth below. Their homemade donuts and cinnamon rolls were to die for! I will definitely be going back for more.
Of course, we had to stop and get crepes for breakfast! They were conveniently located next to a coffee booth. I went with the nutella and peanut butter crepe, but it was a close call between that and the italian sausage, parmesan and spinach crepe.
Next up, I saw the coolest thing I think I've ever laid eyes on. A fashion truck! Like a food truck, but way better (ok, maybe just as good, food trucks are amazing).
It's times like these when I think, why didn't I think of that?! I am currently stalking the Itty Bitty Fashion Truck on their Instagram and plan on finding them again soon.
We just about walked poor little Murphy's legs off. Luckily, her uncle Sean was there to scoop her up and carry her back to the car. I definitely recommend a trip to the Old Capitol Farmers Market if you're in the area (hours and more info here)! What markets do you recommend?
