Gingham Garden Party

Surprise, it's another post featuring gingham! I especially love this dress because it's basically a mashup of all of my favorite things this summer: gingham, off-the-shoulder, ruffles, and fun long midi length. The icing on the cake it that it's now on sale for under $25! (Yes, put your eyeballs back in your head, you read that right.)

This flowy nature of this dress makes it perfect for outdoors and it would be ideal for anything from brunch at an outdoor cafe, to a winery day, to a picnic. I styled it for a casual garden party look here and took photos on our amazing new patio.

Obviously a large sun hat was in order. I think sun hats go especially well with long dresses, so they don't end up overpowering an outfit. Here, it's shines nicely as an accessory, but it could easily overwhelm a little sundress. That said, protection from the sun is always a good thing, so don't just ditch the hat because it doesn't go with your outfit if you need some shade!

Large white sunglasses and a bright red lip help reinforce the retro vibe. Gladiator sandals help modernize the ensemble and give character without distracting from the rest of the outfit.

Because you can never have too much gingham, I accessorized with a gingham bag for a super playful look.

A heads up that this dress does run pretty small. I'm wearing a small here which typically does work for me, but it's definitely on the snug end. It would run more like H&M or Forever 21 sizes rather than The Limited or Gap, where I always have to get an extra small.

See you at the garden party!
