Black Swan Style

I just love a good midi skirt. There's something about the length that feels a little fancy and upscale. Fear not though, fancy doesn't have to mean boring or even expensive. This playful and whimsical black swan midi skirt makes a statement while being very affordable and also very fun.

Because the lively print is definitely the focal point of the ensemble, I went with all black everywhere else to let it shine. The strappy top is short and form-fitting, which perfectly balances out the voluminous skirt with a very high waist cut. It almost reminds me of a leotard, if you're making the connection to The Black Swan movie, but I'm probably not because I'm a wimp and can't watch thrillers.

Pointed black sunglasses and a baby pink lip add to the costume-y and whimsical feeling of the outfit. A vintage clutch was the perfect understated bag for an evening out.

Tall black lace up shoes were a no-brainer here. The thing about midi skirts is that you need tall shoes. Otherwise you end up looking super short with where the hem lands mid-calf. Nobody wants to look like a midi midget, so heel it up!

I've worn this skirt a few times now, and it always gets tons of comments. Who doesn't want an outfit piece that's a conversation starter? Now if only I could just get an array of characters to rotate out: black sheep, black cats, black labs, I'd be set. In the meantime, I'll just peruse the other options from SheIn and build my mid collection.
