Chartreuse Lace and Stripes

This lace dress is one of my favorites, so it's about time it's made an appearance here on the blog. Though it's quite a statement piece, given the blindingly chartreuse color it comes in, it can be so versatile! I can dress it up with chunky jewels and heels for a cocktail affair, or worn with flats for a cute day-about-town look. I even wore it for my wedding rehearsal when it turned out to be chillier than expected, and I had to nix my sleeveless white lace number.

It's the perfect mix between crazy retro style and modern. It's got strong influences of both '80s style and '60s, but I think the result is just perfection.

I styled it with a striped scarf that I ended up getting after we featured it in our Spring Trends post under vertical stripes. I'm loving this trend of wearing a scarf as a choker in place of a necklace. It makes a big statement, which you need in order to compete with the dress. I love this style of scarf, too, because it can be wrapped up like a headband, tied in a bow at your collar, or worn as a sash.
The color combo and styling makes for a kind of nouveau nautical look. Strappy peep-toe shoes reinforce that polished yet whimsical look. I also thought a red lip would be the perfect finishing touch for the nautical vibe. I used lip color from Arkansassy Lips for a vibrant red that I knew would last.
Do you have an outfit item that you love to dress up, down, and all around in different ways? Do share!
