Victorian Vampire

One of trends we've been really excited about this fall is the Romantic/Victorian trend. Deep burgundy and dark jewel tones mixed with ethereal white and black lace are trademarks of this look. Luxe velvet details and high collars with a subtle steampunk feel help to feel bring the late 1800s into this century.

This fall is also all about burgundy, and I'm loving these pants I scored from H&M for under $15. They can be styled as more casual trousers or dressed up. I picked up this white lace button down on a trip to Japan a couple of years ago, and I'd be lying if I said the main reason I got it wasn't because of the black bowtie. Drool.

The top and pants were a perfect starting point for dreamy dark romantic look, but I amped it up with dark lips and a heavy cateye eyeliner. I think the "amp up the vamp" advice I was throwing around for Halloween still stands outside the holiday, if you're cool with it. Might be my new motto this fall.

A sophisticated velvet bow and velvet booties helped tie everything together by mixing up the textures. If you're going to be matchy-matchy, mixing up things like lace and velvet can really help add some dimension to a look.

These circle sunnies, reminiscent of the early 1900s helped reinforce the vintage look. As I say in basically every post, my goal is always to vintage-ify a look (that's a word now, OK?).

As a fun aside, when we were shooting these photos, Jodi started giggling followed by a "I don't want you to be offended, but.. You're kind of reminding me of Gary Oldman as Dracula right now. All you need is a top hat." I may not have had the top hat, but we went with it. (#AmpUpTheVamp)

On that note... what fall trends are you loving the most right now?
