Is there a more relaxing way to spend a breezy summer afternoon than leisurely sitting at a winery, trying different wines and chatting with good friends? Not in my book. The whole experience of tasting, sitting with beautiful scenery and living at your own pace is just as important as the wine itself.
When I visited home (Warrensburg, MO) a few weeks ago, trying out Arcadian Moon, a new winery in the area, was up there on my priority list. I spent a relaxing afternoon there with one of my BFFs the 6th grade, Rylee, and my husband, who obviously had to be our photographer.
Arcadian Moon's theme of Greek Mythology and Constellations really set it apart. Each of the wines is named after a god or goddess associated with the stars, or with stars themselves, which makes for a fun tasting experience. And, being a graphic designer, can we talk about how cool their logo and branding is? Ok, I'll spare you on that one.
We opted to do the full tasting, which was very reasonably priced, first so we could see which wines we liked best. Being a mix of dry and sweet drinkers, we opted to split a bottle of the Luna, a sweet red with berry and citrus undertones. I also really liked the Lyra (a vidal blanc) and Chara (a chambourcin) and Dione (a chambourcin blush). We ended up taking home a bottle of the Dione and it was great chilled for a crisp and refreshing before-dinner drink.
You can't drink wine all afternoon without something to soak it up. We tried the breadsticks with cheddar beer sauce, which were quite tasty.
The grounds of the winery and vineyards were stunning, so we got a table on the deck close to the water. You'd never know you were sitting right near a highway. We even saw a bald eagle!
I wore this fun vintage dress I picked up thrift shopping a few years ago. The breezy whimsical lace was a perfect fit for a day at the winery. I absolutely love the bottom portion with the illusion lace layer. It makes the dress appear a little longer and fancier, and adds a fun touch. I paired it with crisp white accessories.

Looks like you had fun and the view is beautiful. Confessions of an Ex-Ballerina
ReplyDeleteWe did! I must admit, sometimes I go to wineries with so-so wine just for the view! Luckily, they had great wine to go with the great scenery. :)
DeleteI've always wanted to go on a wine tasting tour with my boyfriend. All the fun you had makes me want to go all the more. :]

It really does make for the most relaxing Saturday afternoon. If you can find wine trails, too, sometimes you can take busses from one to another and make a whole day of it. I highly recommend it!
